Alberta Issues 40 Invitations In Healthcare Canada Express Entry Draw

In a recent draw conducted through the Express Entry-linked stream of the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program, Alberta focused on healthcare professionals, extending 40 invitations.

During the May 1 draw, the province specifically targeted candidates with job offers through the Dedicated Healthcare Pathway, requiring a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System score of 305 points.

Alberta has a nomination allocation of 9,750 for 2024, the same as 2023. It issued 10,029 nominations last year under what it described as a “federally authorized administration buffer”.

High Volume of Applications in Alberta

Alberta is experiencing a surge in applications for the Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP), particularly in the following occupations, which may result in longer processing times:

  • 62020: Food service supervisors
  • 63200: Cooks
  • 62010: Retail sales supervisors
  • 65201: Food counter attendants, kitchen helpers, and related support occupations
  • 13110: Administrative assistants
  • 73300: Transport truck drivers
  • 12200: Accounting technicians and bookkeepers
  • 13100: Administrative officers
  • 42202: Early childhood educators and assistants
  • 21231: Software engineers and designers

Alberta Express Entry Requirements

To qualify for a Notification of Interest (NOI) from Alberta, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Maintain an active Express Entry profile in the federal Express Entry pool.
  • Express a desire to permanently immigrate to Alberta.
  • Engage in an occupation that supports Alberta’s economic development and diversification.
  • Achieve a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 300 points.

Factors enhancing a candidate’s likelihood of receiving a NOI include:

  • Obtaining a job offer from an employer in Alberta and/or possessing work experience in the province.
  • Graduating from a Canadian post-secondary institution.
  • Having a relative residing in Alberta, such as a parent, child, and/or sibling.

Factors reducing a candidate’s chances of receiving a NOI include:

  • An Express Entry profile expiring within the next three months.
  • Employment in an ineligible occupation.
